Origin: product of USA, USDA inspected. Prepared for Midamar Corporation, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Halal: Midamar work with several certifiers, most often Islamic Services of America (ISA). ISA’s certification of Midamar covers their beef line; this is a chicken product, machine cut rather than zabiha.
Storage: keep refrigerated or frozen.
Two separate things about the meat, and they are not the same. Mechanically separated — the first ingredient is mechanically separated chicken, not whole muscle; that is about how the meat came off the bone. Machine cut, not zabiha — this is Midamar’s Machine Cut line, not their Zabiha line; that is about how the bird was slaughtered. If you require hand slaughter, this is not the product for you.
Heating warning: for children under 4, cut hot dogs lengthwise and/or crosswise into small bite-sized pieces. Children should always be seated and supervised while eating.
